WHAT??—Fireworks display in downtown Nashville, taken from the Shelby Street bridge…we found the smoke to be as beautiful as the fireworks themselves. Looks kinds science-fictiony, doesn’t it?

Duckies on a Pond…but they’re not really that at all! No, they’re boats on the Cumberland River between the pedestrian bridge (the Shelby Street Bridge) and the Gateway Bridge (Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge), all huddled together underneath the gorgeous glowing night sky as Nashville’s fireworks dazzle the masses….

After the Festivities… As we walk the bridge back home from viewing Nashville’s Fourth of July fireworks extravaganza, this line of bicycles simply begged to be photographed! I mean, look at the line. So patient. So well-behaved. Ahhhh…

And here is where I learned a lesson in Nashville geography.  I’ve called this the Shelby Street Bridge for forever, it seems….when it is actually the Gateway Bridge, or more formally, the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge….

Oh, well.

“the bombs burst in the air…” MORE wild colors and sound and light at the Nashville fireworks display downtown, July 4th, 2010

“And the rockets red glare….” Fireworks over Downtown Nashville, with the pedestrian bridge over the Cumberland River lit up just as brightly! July 4, 2010
